This week we've decided to collate all of our #MondayMentoringMotivation quotes in one post and talk about why we chose them and why they continue to inspire us on our Mentoring journey.
I know from experience, the feeling of failure. When you don't achieve a goal you worked hard towards, or when you realise that what you want just won't become reality. After time has passed though and with a healthy dollop of hindsight, we are able to see that it wasn't a failure, it was just path, and now we have to pick ourselves back up, dust ourselves off, and try something new.
This one is quite a deep one if you think about it for a while, but on the surface it very simply says that a Mentor is there to help you help yourself. This was a very well received quote online - everyone loves Oprah though so we are hardly surprised by this.
This is one for all our Mentors. Your Mentee is a diamond in the rough, and with a bit of work and time you can be witness to their shining moments. Don't ever be discouraged at the start of a Mentoring journey, just think about what could happen at the end.
You'll recognise this one straight away as it sits nicely on our homepage. It's been a favourite of ours for a long time, because for us it perfectly defines Mentoring and wraps up what it is in a nice little bow.
This is one for our Mentors, and it comes from the one and only Steven Spielberg. It's important to remember that when you are Mentoring, you are helping the Mentee become the best version of themselves, not yourself.
Drake spoke at a high school graduation about what we learn on our journies and how these lessons shape who we are, and we couldn't agree more with him. You can find his full speech online, but here is one of the stand alone sentences.
Let us know if you have any favourite Mentoring quotes that have inspired you or even helped to define Mentoring for you. You never know, if we like it too, we might mention it in a future #MondayMentoringMotivation post!
